Write to us!

In response to our writings on swinging and alternative lifestyles:

Here it is, the end of the world coming fast, and so many people involved in self love and self worship...wondering, how would one feel if they were being judged about suggesting others to go astray?

Supposedly, one might have a spark of God in their life, a ray of hope, a chance at forgiveness or of a turned heart where they might have the opportunity to fight evil...feel forgiveness, respect themselves...

"I wonder, sealing with jealousy, feeling the anxiety, making it good and okay until there is no hurt anymore and no guilt...buring oneself out and wondering what is life living for...other than sex...simply put, sex is not love...and if ones' truth says having sex is okay, then that just happens to be the way it is...

The encouragement of others, to turn away or experiment...drawn to risks where the reward is but a brief high...until felt again and again...like an addiction...it is an addiction...

Guessing it is okay for you, suggesting others to experiment and saying it is okay...I wonder if I could be so strong as to say no...

Bin Laden speaks of the evil of America... sometimes I feel like I know why ... sometimes I feel part of the problem...and I wonder, how will I be judged?

How do you think you guys might be judged, if in fact, you believed that any possiblity existed that there might be final judgment?

Our response -

We realize that your question may be rhetorical but with sincere concern, so we will attempt to answer it honestly.

The frightening thing about bin Laden and those who share his fundamentalist fervor is that they believe that their interpretation of God's law is the only correct one, and that it is appropriate to use any means, including murder and mass destruction, to instill their views on others. The ultimate stated goal is to spread their brand of Islam to the entire world, or to whatever is left when they are done.

Our strength in the United States comes not from our similarities, but from our diversity. We are a nation of many religious beliefs, many political beliefs, and many social beliefs, but united by the singular belief enshrined in the Bill of Rights that life, liberty and the pursuit of individual happiness are paramount. On issues of individual liberty, the majority does not rule.

I do not believe that the end of the world is coming. That cry has been repeated for the last 2,000 years, with considerable conviction that it was just around the corner. No man knows when such a thing will happen, at least according to the Bible.

My views concerning sexuality differ from the Christian fundamentalist view considerably. Going to Mathew Shepard's funeral with signs reading "God Hates Fags" is to us considerably more immoral than having sex with our friends. Blaming pagans, abortionists, feminists, and others who have differing but sincere views about life and religion for the terrorist attacks, as Jerry Falwell did, is to us considerably more immoral. Using violent rhetoric that encourages people to go out and shoot abortion providors is considerably more immoral. Yet all these things are done in the name of Christianity. Osama would certainly approve.

Indeed, having sex with our friends is to us wonderfully life renewing and brings us closer to other people that we care about. Sex can be a wonderfully bonding experience, and we have closer more loving relationships with friends now than we have ever had in our lives.

Some people may see that as sinful. We have a different view. I don't steal, I try to be kind and fair with others, and I think about moral issues every single day of my life and how the way I live my life impacts other people. I don't believe I am leading people astray, but rather, providing them with information about something that has made my life richer and the lives of many people I know richer. I discourage those who have issues of jealousy or marriages that are not secure.

If you had read other of my writings, you would know that swinging goes beyond just casual sex, or experimentation, or a brief high. It is a lifestyle and a way of living that while not for everyone, is really quite amazing. It builds community and causes an entire paradigm shift in the way one views sexuality. It brings you closer to others in ways you never thought possible.

You may view it is as sinful, and I suspect it would be really, really wrong for you. I know in my heart that it is right for me, though. Therefore, I have no concern about final judgement. If I thought it was wrong, I would not do it. Period.

If you live your life true to your principles, and you sincerely try not to bring harm to others and to enrich the world, then I would not worry so much about judgement. To bin Laden, the evil of America is our support of Israel, and our freedom of religion where disparate views are guaranteed a place and no one faith can dominate others.

Whatever our views, though, we can all come together in support of preserving our nation's plurality and freedom. We fight to the death for our fellow citizen's right to believe differently and even worship a different god. That is our great difference, and the great strength that will ultimately defeat our enemies.
