The latest trend in Las Vegas is what is
known as European style sunbathing. What this essentially means is that
women can go top free, something that is common in Europe but still puts
many Americans into apoplexy. One of the differences is that while being
top free in Europe (and even clothing optional) is far more common and
generally acceptable, here it is considered a strictly adults only affair.
That works for us, as we would rather be at an adults only pool any way.
Mandalay
Bay
Mandalay Bay is one of the newer hotels
and is quite beautiful inside. Its convention center is home to a couple
of adults only conventions, including the Winter Internext (for adult webmasters)
and the Exotic Dancer's Fan Fair in August (see the conventions section
in the Vegas Grows Up feature).
Caesars
Palace
This was one of the first of the big theme
hotels, but it has kept up. It is beautiful inside, and the cocktail waitress
uniforms are very sexy. You might also want to check out the sexy shadow
dancers at the Shadow bar.
Stratosphere
It is hard to miss the towering façade
at the end of the strip, with its signature 1,149 foot high observation
deck. For those into roulette, this is one of the few casinos that has
a European style wheel without the double zero (thus increasing your odds
of winning and reducing the house percentage). We also enjoy Roxy's, a
50's style diner with singing and dancing wait staff.
Wynn
Hotel
The Wynn hotel is the latest multi-billion
dollar venture from Steve Wynn. Personally, we found the color schemes
and overall design somewhat garish, sort of like the vain attempt at class
by William Randolph Hurst with his amazing but excessive to the extreme
castle. Neither did we find much of interest to the casual visitor, although
they do have extremely nice amenities for those staying there, including
very posh rooms. Of course, those come at a price, with $250 getting you
a low-end room. The hotel is targeted at high rollers (or those with those
pretensions). A bottle of water in your room is $8, and a margarita poolside
will set you back $12. A round of golf on their golf course will set you
back $500.
MGM Grand
One of the two pools is a topless pool, and the multi-tiered layout allows sunbathers and topless swimmers to be secluded without being fully separated from the whole grounds.
Green Valley Ranch is just outside of Vegas in Henderson. It offers a small secluded topfree pool.
Treasure Island has the Party Tub, a 50 person jacuzzi where they will serve you tropical frozen infusions. It is is open daily during pool hours, and to all guests 20 and over. European-style sun-bathing is permitted.
Perhaps just being top free is not enough. You might want to soak in the all together. Au Natural is a Nudist & Alternative Lifestyle Retreat. According to their site: " Au Natural is made up of 4 private homes, banded together by some wonderful features, to create a luxurious and very private nudist/ clothing-optional & lifestyle friendly sanctuary. Once you are inside the retreat, you immediately feel the atmosphere of a tropical resort. During the daytime, we cater to nudists or those interested in nudism. The nighttime will be reserved mainly for private or themed parties that include the various lifestyle groups/people in and around town. "
