What differentiates this book from so many of the sex books out there is the unique partnership of authors, where one has expertise as a clinical hypnotherapist who has worked with sexuality issues, while the other is a noted fitness trainer. An unusual combination, but it provides the book with a perspective and emphasis that has some real value. One of the aspects of good sex often ignored is the importance of fitness. If your body is out of shape and you never get any exercise, then your ability to enjoy sex, which is an aerobic activity, will be diminished. Four strokes and you roll over and go to sleep does not cut it. In the section on Planning Your Hot Sex Party, they have a lot of different exercises to build important muscles used for sex, from the kegel to the inner thighs. All of this is good advice (especially the kegels), and will help to improve your sexual experiences. The book takes the format of recipes for good sex and the gathering of the ingredients you will need. It includes ideas on making the use of condoms sexier. We will quibble a little with the note that warns about using the mouth technique with lubricated condoms, though. They note that some have experienced mouth numbing, but the problem in this case is not the fact that the condom is lubricated, but that the lubricant includes Nonoxynol-9, a discredited ingredient that you should always avoid anyway. By the way, recent studies have indicated that Astroglide, and lubes with very similar ingredients, can kill some STDs. The research is not absolutely conclusive yet, but good enough that it would certainly not hurt to look for condom brands prelubricated with Astroglide if STDs are a concern. Following chapters deal with fantasy, morning sex, touch and massage, sex in different places, and setting up fantasy situations. The metaphor of gourmet sex is a good one, and the book stays playful and light. Written in a breezy style
for women, it is a quick read and should provide an idea or two to add
to your lovemaking. There is nothing earth shattering here, but it is always
good to be reminded of the importance of playful sex. Just as preparing
a great mel requires a little perperation and planning, so too does great
sex. Bon apetit!
