Tawdry Trivia is one of the best trivia board games we've seen. Well produced, well designed, with good game play and excellent trivia questions, it will keep you occupied for hours at a time. In fact, that would probably be our only real complaint- the standard game takes about three hours. We typically use sex games so that we'll eventually get to the sex. We got so caught up in just playing that it almost got too late to get to the good part. Fortunately, you can play a shorter game, and the game is flexible enough so that you can incorporate a wide range of activities during play.
Basic game play involves rolling dice and moving your pieces around the squares on the board. Most squares require you to answer a trivia question from one of several categories: Indecent Exposure (art and entertainment), Perversions and Peccadillos (kink), Naughty Notables (celebs and pols), Flaunting It (the good life), Bawdy Banter (limericks, euphemisms and quotes), Sex Education (general sex), Flying High (liquor, drugs, gambling), and Historic Decadence. You get over 380 question cards, each one with questions from the 8 categories with the answers on the back. Answer a question correctly, and you get $1000 and to roll again. When we played with some friends, we incorporated Dirty Dice that had to be rolled when you got a wrong answer, which worked pretty well. The goal of the game is to collect money so that when you land on an Experience Room square, you can afford to pay the $3000 and answer the question. Get it right, and you earn an experience token. There are eight different colored tokens for each of the eight experience rooms. Collect them all, and you get to go the Madam's Chamber for a final question. Get it right, and you win the game. Sometimes a question will turn out to not be a question. For example, you might get "If you've ever participated in a threesome, collect $3000", or you might be sent to a different space on the board. You can also collect $2000 for landing on a Roll Me Over space. Having all of the extra cash is more important in the Depraved version of the game. You can bribe the banker $6000 ahead of time to get an experience token. You can auction off or loan items of clothing or services. Having the extra cash in this case can really pay off. We found it a lot of fun to play, and we'll keep it handy for times when we need to liven things up a little. You can play it at any level of naughtiness you desire, so it works fine for our straight friends as well as our swinger friends. As an all purpose sex themed game, this is a winner.
