The Hitachi Magic Wand
This has been around since the 1970's, and has remained one of the top selling adult toys. That is why it was so strange that last year at this time it was impossible to find. Hitachi drastically underestimated the demand, and it was unavailable for months around the Christmas season. For whatever reason, they had almost written off the product, and yet it remains very popular. For now, the supply seems to be keeping up, but you never know, as it happened a second time later in the year, and again they were unavailable for a couple of months. Best advice- if you want one, don't wait. The supply is very unreliable, and they can become unavailable at any time. We've seen them in Long's Drug Stores, and occasionally they even had them on sale at near wholesale prices. If you are not lucky enough to find them at a drug store, you'll have to get them at an adult store. Adult stores do not have the buying power of a major chain, so they will be more expensive. On the plus side, your Hitachi will provide you with years and years of service. They are reliable workhorses, and just keep going and going. You don't even have to change batteries, as they plug into the wall. This is not a gentle vibrator. There are two settings; vroom, and zowie, which they call low and high. The head is pretty large, about three inches wide, but fairly short at 2 1/2 inches, so it is not the type of vibrator you use for insertion (unless you have one of the attachments- see our attachment review). It is basically held against the clit or the vagina. The head is attached to the vibrator by a flexible shaft, so it does have a little give to it. The head is covered with vinyl, and is firm but not hard. It is enormously popular, very reliable, and never needs batteries, so it is certainly worth considering. If you need a very gentle touch, this may not be for you, but if some good hard stimulation sounds like it would hit the spot, you'll want to add this to your toy collection. -JB |
