Slim-Line
If you are looking for a basic introductory vibrator, there are a staggering number of choices out there. The basic vibrator as seen in the picture is known in the industry as a smoothie. They are made of rigid plastic and are controlled by turning a dial in the base, which adjusts the speed of the vibration. You can get them in almost any color imaginable, and we've seen novelty designs including faux wood grains and Hawaiian patterns. You can also pay extra money and buy them in a box with a porn star on it. With all of the choices out there, what do we recommend if you wanted to buy one just to try them? Well, you can't go wrong with the Slim-Line from Golden Triangle. At 7 1/2" inches it is all the length you'll need, and the 1 1/4" width will be comfortable for most people. It comes in a hard plastic case that will both protect it, keep it clean, and keep dust off of it. They even include the batteries. Okay, they are cheap batteries and they won't last that long, but it also means you can use this vibrator right out of the box. Once you put the batteries in the vibe, the space left over in the box is a great place to store a second set of batteries so you won't be let down when your vibe runs down. Best of all, this is about the cheapest vibe of its type that we have seen. You can find them for as little as $6.50. They don't have as many colors available as some vibes, but with a choice of blue, black, green, white, lavender, pink, red or yellow, you should be able to find something that suits you. They also have versions in shiny metallic gold and silver. We've seen a number of metallics, and these look as good as any of them and better than those with duller finishes. Metallics (okay, really shiny plastic) cost more, and oddly, you'll pay more for the metallic gold than you will for the silver. I understand why this would be if it were real gold, but I am baffled as to why gold plastic costs more than silver plastic. Smoothies are a great introductory vibrator, and you can't really go wrong with any of them. They all use the same basic mechanism and offer the same basic type of sensation. There are thinner smoothies, and longer ones, and fancier colors, but the Slim-Line combines some nice extras with a good quality vibe and a very low price. -JB |
